"Ooh, Ooh, Cori, let me do it!" Droiture scrambled out from under the table. "I'm good at croquet!" He tugged on Cori's sleeve like a child asking for a treat.

Cori looked to the Queen. "If I may, your majesty, let him play in my place?"
"Of course, my dear girl. Come, come. Let us make haste then." She led them back to her garden where Card Guards stood around, giving the two unapproved glances as they came through.

Droiture followed the Queen, and was promptly handed a flamingo. "A bloody bird. Right. Forgot about this part of the story. Alright, birdy, birdy, here's the yarn. I'm going to use your skull to knock around a little spiky ball. It'll hurt but I'll patch you up later best I can, alright?" The flamingo struggled for a moment, but finally calmed down when Droiture scratched it's head nicely.

Cori poked at one of the flamingos and sent it into a fit. She backed away from the squaking bird and proceeded to watch the game. "You first then, dear." The Queen motioned for Droiture to start things off.

Droiture reeled back and sent the ball in a perfect shot to where it was supposed to be, except that it reeled slightly off course at the end. "Damn, I was hoping to nail that guard of yours in the leg." He said jokingly, as the bird squawked.

The Queen waved her hand, a motion that told Droiture to move out of her way. She hit the little hedgehog with great force, the Card Guards all running to make sure the poor excuse for a croquet ball rolled under their arched bodies. Unfortunately, one of the Guards wasn't fast enough. "Off with his head!" And with that, dragged off.
Cori put her hand to her throat reflexively and swallowed. "The Queen does not take losing lightly." She turned, seeing the man from earlier sitting on the hedge wall. "If you plan to keep your heads, I would suggest letting her win." His grin seemed to take up his whole face. Maybe it was just the hood.
She shifted uneasily. "Is there any way out of here? Without losing our heads?" He leaned back, as if thoughtful.

"Oh, don't listen to Mr Vague over there. It's much easier to just win and run away." Droiture said. "She can't possibly catch us; she's rotund!" Droiture said through the corner of his mouth.

"There is no where to run and no where to hide. This land belongs to the Queen so think through your decision." The Cheshire disappeared just as he had been there.
"Girl, who are you talking to?" The Queen glared in her direction.
"Oh um, just thinking out loud, your majesty."
"It's rude, refrain from doing so."
"How about you just mind your own damn business?" Cori snapped and quickly covered her mouth, realizing she messed up.
"What did you say!?"

"Cori, I suggest you run your ass off." Droiture said, leaning over to her. "It's probably intelligent." He added.

"You know, I think that's a great idea." Cori darted from the garden, hearing the continuous 'Off with her head!' being screamed out behind her. "Talk, talk, talk. I need to learn to shut my mouth sometimes! Where to go? Where oh where?"
"An escape, my dear, can be found by finding the Jabberwok. He holds the only way out." Chershire's voice sounded through the woods around her.
"And where is the Jabberwok?"
"The only way to find him is to find the Griffin first! His path is the one to your left. Or maybe not." A laugh came from the man.

"Or maybe not? What the hell is that supposed to mean?!" Droiture snarled, still holding the struggling flamingo as he ran after Cori. He dropped the squawking bird and slapped his forehead roughly. "Or maybe not.... Bloody cat! I'll skin him and make him into a pair of boots!"

Cori came to a stop when her one path split into three. "Well, the Cat was no help." She gave out an exasperated sigh. "Eeny meenie miney, that one." Cori took the left path. "It all I have to go on. Come on Droiture, pick up the pace!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Droiture followed along, holding onto Cori's shirt so as not to stumble over his own legs as he was opt to do. "Who knows where the hell this will take us, though! We could end up right into one of that blasted Queen's traps!" He complained.

"Yes but do you have a better idea? All the Cheshire gave us was 'on the left.' Well, this is the left so I say, take it!" Cori ran along the path that looked as if it was made of carpet.

"How do we know if the blasted Cat is even on our side? He could be a spy for all we know! Why are we trusting a man who won't even show his face?" Droiture asked, clambering up onto Cori's shoulders.
